The SpamGate appliance quickly eliminates spam from
enterprise email systems. While most anti-spam
appliances require time-consuming and
management-intensive rules, blacklists or signatures to
work, SpamGate intercepts spam at the gateway level,
filtering out questionable email before it impacts your
mail servers. The SpamGate appliance is designed to be
installed in less than 30 minutes and will immediately
start eliminating junk mail while delivering good mail
to your users.
Functionality Overview

SpamGate acts as a “store and forward” gateway
positioned between the Internet and your primary mail
server(s). Inbound mail and/or Outbound mail is routed
to the SpamGate appliance via Firewall port redirection
or Name Server MX records where it is checked for spam
characteristics, file attachments, malformed headers and
viruses. The SpamGate server can be installed in front
of your Firewall, behind your Firewall on the inside
network or on your DMZ network segment. All SMTP traffic
must be received by the SpamGate server first. After
SpamGate checks your messages for Spam it will forward
the SMTP traffic to your mail server. If your mail
server is down, SpamGate will hold all your messages for
72 hours.
